Forgetting God
The blessings we have enjoyed in the United States have come from God because this country was originally founded on Christian principles. God’s word says, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord" (Psalms 33:12). We have enjoyed freedoms and blessings that have been the envy of the world. The United States at one time was called a "Christian" nation, but it can no longer be called such. At one time the Bible and prayer was allowed in public schools, but this is no longer the case.
In the past God told the nation of Israel, "Because you have forgotten Me and cast Me behind your back, therefore you shall bear the penalty" (Ezekiel 23:35). We in this country will also bear the penalty if we continue as we are doing. What happened on September 11, 2001 should have been a wake up call for this country, but it wasn’t. We in this country continue going down the path of self destruction.
The U. S. Congress during the year 2007 AD was working on a bill in one of the subcommittees that would make it a criminal offense to teach anything against the sin of homosexuality. The law didn’t made it out of subcommittee. If it ever does become law, it would be a criminal offense to teach in a Bible class or from the pulpit what the Bible says about Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis chapter 19. It would a criminal offense to teach what God’s word says in Romans 1:27-28, "Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind". America today does not want to retain God in their knowledge. If this bill were to become law it would be a criminal offense to teach what God’s word says in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 that neither "homosexuals, nor sodomites" would go to Heaven. It may be later than we think.
But the Bible says, "The wicked shall be turned into Hell, and all the nations that forget God" (Psalms 9:17). The United States is quickly forgetting God and will ceased to be blessed as we have in the past. This country is quickly becoming a "God-less" nation. If we in the United States want the blessings of God to continue we must repent and return back to God.
