Why Should I
Believe In The Bible?

If a person has never studied the Bible, then he cannot know what it says and he cannot really understand why he should believe in the Bible. The Bible contains the only information in the world as to where we came from, what we are to be doing now, and where we are going when this short life here on earth is over. This information can be found only in the Bible. The 66 books of the Bible were written over a period of 1500 years by 40 different men, who were inspired by God to write what they wrote. In these 66 books there are no contradictions and they are all in perfect agreement because they are inspired by an all knowing, all wise, all powerful God. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." The 40 inspired men wrote exactly what God inspired them to write. "For prophesy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 1:21).
God does not want anyone to be lost in Hell. 1 Timothy 2:4 says that God, "desires all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth". Before one can be saved he must first come to the knowledge of the truth, which is found only in the Bible. So why should I believe the Bible? If one doesn’t believe the Bible he will not be saved, but will be eternally lost in a real eternal Hell, where he will be tormented day and night forever and ever (Revelation 20:10, 15). Many people don’t believe that there is going to be a Hell, but one day they will all believe it because they will be there.
If we want to be saved we must, "Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls" (James 1:21). The implanted word of God as found only in the Bible contains the only instructions of God that can save our souls. Jesus says, "Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in Heaven" (Matthew 7:21). Before we can do the will of God, we must first know what God’s will is so we can be saved. What we must do to be saved is specified only in the Bible. There is no way a person can be saved if he doesn’t believe the Bible. If a person doesn’t believe the Bible he will be eternally lost in Hell. If one is lost in Hell he will only have himself to blame because he chose to be lost.
