Lesson # 10
Restoring The Fallen
(A Two Lesson Bible Study To Help Restore The Fallen)There are many Christians who have wandered away from the Lord. Unfaithful members of the Lord’s church have everything to gain if they are restored and their souls to lose in Hell if they are not restored. James 5 19-20 says, "Brethern, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins." Here we see when one is restored it will result in his soul being saved from an eternal death in Hell and the multitude of his sins will be covered and forgiven. By helping to restore the fallen will create joy in Heaven. Jesus says, "Likewise I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents" (Luke 15:10).
Our concern in trying to restore the fallen demonstrates our love, faith, and courage. "Brethern, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in the spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted" (Galatians 6:1). If we are spiritual we will do our best to restore those who have fallen away. The Lord doesn’t want anyone to be lost. He is "not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). He has already paid the price for our sins by taking our punishment. He is eager and ready for our return. In order to return one must repent. This is where we help the fallen to see their need to repent and help them to return back to the Lord.
There are two lessons below in PDF format which you can download and print. These lessons can be used to help restore erring Christians. You can use the first lesson "Be Faithful Until Death" and if you are not successful in restoring the erring Christian then go to Lesson #2 "Let's Not Neglect Our Great Salvation". In using the lessons you, your silent partner, and the erring Christian should each have a copy of the lesson and each should mark them as you go through the lesson. Also have the erring Christian read each of the scriptures aloud, if he will.
The lessons require a reader. If you don't already have a reader, you can download a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader by clicking the link below.
After you download and print the outside page of the first lesson then put the page you just printed back in the feed tray of your printer so it will print the other side, then download and print the inside page of the first lesson. Do the same for Lesson #2. You can then run the lessons through a copy machine and make as many copies as you need. The lessons should then be folded width-wise in half. Permission is granted to make as many copies of this Bible study as you need, but please do not sell them.
