Cornbread
- 1 cup white cornmeal
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 2 tsps. baking powder
- 1 scant cup buttermilk
- 1 egg
- Mix dry ingredients
- Add part of milk, then egg,
mixing well; then rest of milk. Mix well.
- Pour into preheated greased
9 inch pan
- Bake @ 500
degrees until browned,
about 10 to 12 minutes
- Comment: You will
notice that this has no fat in the receipe. For it to
be completely fat-free, just use a coating spray such as, Baker's
Secret,
heat and pour batter into it. It turns out well.
Also, egg beaters
could be used instead of egg. This is my mother's recipe and
it is our
family's favorite.
