Khanaja Church Meeting
Phalombe District, Malawi
November 16, 2002
It took about an hour and fifteen minutes for Stephen Kasenda and me to drive to Khanaja from Blantyre. The brethren had scheduled me to join them in their meeting and speak for them on Saturday, Nov.
16, 2002. We arrived at the edge of the village about 9:15 AM where the sisters attending the meeting met us and escorted us to the church building about a mile away. It took about 30 minutes for us to reach the church building. The sisters sang traditional greetings as they led us. Of course, they stopped many times along the way to treat us with their welcoming procedures. To be greeted as we were is a great honor and for which you must show respect.
Members from nearby congregations, as well as some of the preachers working in the Phalombe area, were in attendance. The people demonstrated by their good attention that they had come prepared to listen to the preaching of the Gospel. This is when you take advantage of the occasion , dig down for some good solid encouraging and informative teaching concerning God’s scheme of redemption and how wonderful it is that it includes us.
The photo of brethren in attendance was taken on the road in front of the church building. A portion of the grass arbor which was constructed to accommodate the crowd for the services can be seen to the right side of the photo.
