Makwangwala Church Meeting
Friday, July 18, 2003

The Makwangwala congregation is located in Phalombe district about 80 km east of Blantyre. Due to the poor conditions of the roads, it is about and hour and half drive from the city of Blantyre. As you can see from the photo, the attendance was very good. Most of the congregations in the general area were represented by some of their members. In addition, there were no less than 30 preachers in attendance, most of them from Phalombe District. What made this meeting so enjoyable was to witness the unity and peace prevailing, both among the preachers and members of the various congregations! This is something which a number of brethren have worked hard to achieve. And, it is a blessing to see the accomplishment.

In the front row of adults on the left side, the man standing on the outside with a knit cap on is Chief Sikoti, a visitor from an adjoining village. Next to Chief Sikoti on his left is the preacher for the Makwangwala congregation, Brother J. M. Richardi. To the left of Brother Richardi is Chief Makwangwala. To the left of the chief is the UDF Party chairman for the area who visited the meeting, Mr. Louis Nanthalo. Standing behind Chief Sikoti, wearing the red shirt, is Stephen Kasenda who translated for me. Next to Stephen is Brother R.K. Chiwaya the preacher from the Mumbuwa congregation. --Jim Franklin, P.O.
