Mpeni Congregation’s Meeting
December 8, 2002

Mpeni congregation is another of those congregations located on a tea, coffee and macadamia estate in Thyolo District south of Blantyre. This congregation began as a result of the efforts of Bro. F. L. Maulidi. Bro. Maulidi is now blind, but his spirit remains as enthusiastic as ever. He continues to visit among a number of congregations he had started through the years when he had his sight, preaching and encouraging them. Brethren still respect him and hold him in very high esteem. He is the elderly gentleman wearing a dark suit standing on the far left of the picture in the first row of adults behind the children.

We had a nice audience in attendance, including a few visitors from two other different churches located in the same village. Our meeting today was a Lord’s Day worship service. We chose a subject which we believed to be appropriate for the occasion, “The Hope We Have In Christ.” Davidson Kasambwe did an excellent job of translating for us. --Jim Franklin
