This gathering for worship took place on June 16, 2002, at the Mulodza Church of Christ, Mulodza Village, Mulanje District, Malawi.  Mulodza is located about one hour's drive east southeast of Blantyre.  The congregation was established about two years ago by Bro. F. Kaliyati, one of our preachers living in the area.  The lady standing on the right in the front row wearing what appears to be a leopard skin skirt is the village chief.  If you look just over her right shoulder, you can see Davidson Kasambwe who translated for me on this occasion.  --Jim Franklin

This is a side view of the arbor at the Mulodza church which gives you a perspective of the congregation as it was assembled for worship on June 16, 2002. There was not enough room under the arbor for everyone to get out of the direct sunlight. Some of the people sat in the little road beside the arbor in the sunlight, and they did so without complaining during the 2 1/2 hour service. There were no pews for the people in the congregation to sit on, just "mother earth's lap." The arbor was constructed alongside the newly built church building. (Note the grass roof on the church building.) --Jim Franklin
