Choice?

I would like to ask what earthly reason someone would have to CHOOSE to be gay.

Is it the thrill of few legal protections against discrimination?

Is it the thrill of being outcast from their families?

Is it the thrill of being viewed as a second class citizen?

The thrill of constant wariness of those who may want to cause them physical harm?

The thrill of judgment from the 'religious'?

Noone would choose those things. Being gay is a natural emotional/physical reaction from birth. Homosexuality has been identified in hundreds of species of animals which rely on instinct, certainly not choice. So then, if it is not a choice, we must reevaluate the way we view GLBT folks and indeed, the way we view the Bible.

Just something to provoke your thoughts.

    Lev. 18:22; (KJV throughout) Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
     
       Lev 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

     The famous story (Genesis 19:1-28) of Sodom (and Sodomites) being destroyed by the wrath of God graphically demonstrates God’s true feelings towards Gays.

    Rom. 1:24-27; Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
    Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
    For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
    And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
     
    I Cor. 6:9;
    Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

     I Tim. 1:10: For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

    The Bible is the handbook for mankind written by the Architect of the Universe.  In it our God has made it clear, homosexuality is an abomination and defiles the individual.  We certainly cannot change the ancient Scripture but you suggest we look at it differently.  Do we pretend it doesn’t say what it says?  Do we alter the meaning so we can pretend an abhorrent lifestyle is acceptable?  That would be dishonest but a way to rationalize what is unacceptable.

     You mention, “Homosexuality has been identified in hundreds of species of animals which rely on instinct, certainly not choice.”  That is a misleading statement cleverly designed to show a repulsive activity as if it were natural.

    Animals are simply searching for pleasure, just as gays are. But mankind has knowledge and reason and the Word of God to lead us to a higher level. Animals do not.  God would prefer you overcome your proclivity to do that which is unseemly.
     
    I realize that is not always going to happen. As we read in Romans 1:21-22 there will be those who know of God but do not accept Him as God.  They are not thankful for what He has done but use their imaginations for self and their hearts were darkened.  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.
     
    Rev 21:7-8 tells us they who overcome shall inherit all things and will have a relationship with God Himself. While the abominable will have their part in the lake of fire.  

    Perhaps the LGBT community, in trying to legitimize their pleasure seeking, fail to notice what is decent and good.
