Dear brethren,
We are very happy to announce our plans for the Ninth
Annual East Texas Camp Meeting and to extend to the members of your local
congregation a special invitation to join us.
As was the case last year, the meeting will again be under the oversight
and direction of the congregation in Tyler.
If you have attended this great meeting in recent years then you know
you can expect to hear wonderful gospel preaching, uplifting singing and rich
fellowship with other Christians.
First of all, the meeting will be conducted on the
weekend of April 13, 14, & 15, 2012.
Brethren Jonathan Edwards and Nathan Battey
will be preaching on the theme, “Growing Up In Christ”
suggested by the text in Ephesians 4:12-16.
Each lesson will focus on a different aspect of the passage encouraging
young Christians to equip themselves for the work of ministry (12), being more
like Christ (13), dealing with the danger of false doctrines (14), growing up
in Christ (15), and then the necessity of every member doing its share (16).
Second, we have once again made arrangements to
conduct the Friday and Saturday services of this year’s meeting inside the
beautiful Tyler State Park just 2 miles north of Interstate 20 on FM Road
14. Tyler State Park provides a serene
environment in which Christians can worship together and where the gospel can
be preached and Christians can enjoy one another’s company in the outdoor
setting provided by a camp meeting. We
have reserved camp area 10 for our use, which includes 6 very nice
fully-enclosed cabins that are furnished with bunk beds, numerous tent sites,
shower facilities, and a climate controlled dining hall where we will serve all
of the meals and also conduct our worship services. There are no trailer or RV
sites in this particular camp area, but there are plenty of available RV and
trailer sites elsewhere in the park. If you prefer to bring a trailer or RV you
will need to contact the State Parks office on line or at (512) 389-8900 to
make your own reservation. As in past years, the Sunday services of the meeting
will be conducted in the church building on Spur 364 at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00
p.m. We will serve lunch on Sunday afternoon.
On the next page, you will find a reservation form and
some pertinent information. If you would
like to attend this camp meeting and to stay with us in Tyler State Park,
please indicate so by completing the form and returning it to the address
indicated, or you may phone or e-mail your information to us. Please include your phone number so we may
call and confirm your reservation. We
are eager to answer any and all questions you may have, and to do whatever
needs to be done to insure this camp meeting is above reproach in every way and
is a genuine blessing to all who attend.
We encourage you to call one of us if you have any questions or if we
can clarify anything for you. Our prayer
is that God will bless you with safe travel and that we will see you soon.
By His grace and for the Tyler brethren,
Glenn Ballard
