We are very happy to announce our plans for the Second Annual East Texas
Spring Camp Meeting and to extend to the members of your local congregation a
special invitation to join us. The meeting last year was well-attended
and very favorably received. We are expecting a considerably larger
crowd this year and we are most excited about the preachers and the
sermon topics that have been chosen.
First of all, the meeting will be conducted on the weekend of April 15 –
17. These dates were chosen so as not to conflict with other meetings in
the Dallas – Ft. Worth Metroplex. Brethren Cullen Smith and Kevin Fox
have accepted our invitation to conduct the meeting. The theme for the
meeting, which we hope will be especially helpful to our young people,
is “Lessons From the Mountaintop.” Each topic will focus on a selected
passage from the Lord’s sermon on the mount.
We have reserved the same entire campground (20 sites) inside beautiful
Tyler State Park (see map attached) that we utilized last year. Each
camp site can comfortably accommodate a self-contained RV and two large
tents, up to a maximum of eight to ten campers per site. This will allow
us to accommodate up to 180 to 200 overnight guests. The isolated
section of the park offers a serene environment in which Christians can
worship together, where the gospel can be preached and Christians can
enjoy one another’s company in the outdoor setting provided by a camp
meeting. We have also reserved a covered group picnic area in which to
conduct the worship services in the event of mildly unfavorable weather.
If the 3-day forecast calls for rain, the meeting will simply be moved
to the Athens church building, and we will accommodate as many guests as
we possibly can in our homes. The members of the Athens congregation,
along with our brethren from the nearby congregation in Tyler, are eager
to see this meeting grow.
If you would like to attend this camp meeting and to stay with us in the
park, please indicate so by completing the
registration form and submit
it to us, or you may phone or e-mail your information to us. We will
confirm your reservation with a phone call, so please include your phone
number. We are eager to answer any and all questions you may have, and
to do whatever needs to be done to ensure this camp meeting is above
reproach in every way and is a genuine blessing to all who attend. We
encourage you to call one of us if you have any questions or if we can
clarify anything for you. Our prayer is that God will bless your local
congregation and all of your efforts for Truth.
