We are very happy to announce our plans for the Third Annual East Texas
Spring Camp Meeting and to extend to the members of your local
congregation a special invitation to join us. The meeting last year was
well-attended and very favorably received. We are expecting a
considerably larger crowd this year and we are most excited about the
preachers and the sermon topics that have been chosen.
First of all, the meeting will be conducted on the weekend of April
14–16, 2006. We are aware that this is the “Easter Weekend,” but rather
than seeing this as a reason to move the meeting to another weekend, we
believe the Friday holiday will actually make it easier for many folks
to travel to the meeting. Brethren Cullen Smith and Shawn Willis have
accepted our invitation to conduct the meeting. The theme for the
meeting, which we hope will be especially helpful to our young people,
is “Conduct Worthy of the Gospel.” Each topic will focus on a selected
passage from Paul’s letter to the Philippians.
We have reserved the same campground inside beautiful Tyler State Park
(see maps) that we utilized the past two years. Each camp site can
comfortably accommodate a self-contained RV and two large tents, up to a
maximum of eight to ten campers per site. This will allow us to
accommodate up to 120 overnight guests. The isolated section of the park
offers a serene environment in which Christians can worship together,
where the gospel can be preached and Christians can enjoy one another’s
company in the outdoor setting provided by a camp meeting. We have also
reserved a covered group picnic area in which to conduct the worship
services in the event of mildly unfavorable weather. If the 3-day
forecast calls for rain, the meeting will simply be moved to the Athens
church building, and we will accommodate as many guests as we possibly
can in our homes. The members of the Athens congregation, along with our
brethren from the nearby congregation in Tyler, are eager to see this
meeting continue to grow and to be a blessing to all who attend.
If you would like to attend this camp meeting and to stay with us in the
park, please indicate so by completing the
registration form and submit
it to us, or you may phone or e-mail your information to us. We will
confirm your reservation with a phone call, so please include your phone
number. We are eager to answer any and all questions you may have, and
to do whatever needs to be done to ensure this camp meeting is above
reproach in every way and is a genuine blessing to all who attend. We
encourage you to call one of us if you have any questions or if we can
clarify anything for you. Our prayer is that God will bless your local
congregation and all of your efforts for Truth.
